Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was established on 4 February 1972 in Dhanbad, giving a unified political voice to the tribal and indigenous people of the Jharkhand region.

The Long March for Statehood
Decades of relentless agitation, rallies, and sacrifice. JMM championed forest rights, land rights, and cultural autonomy against displacement.

Jharkhand Becomes a State
On 15 November 2000 — the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda — Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar as a separate state. JMM's dream was realised after 28 years of struggle.

Hemant Soren Becomes Chief Minister
JMM led the Grand Alliance to a decisive victory, securing 47 of 81 Assembly seats. Hemant Soren was sworn in as Chief Minister on 29 December 2019.
